PHYSIOTHERAPIST, STRENGTH COACH
Isabelle started Beyond The Table Physiotherapy in 2020, to allow her to bring the joy of effective exercise therapy to her clients who need it most, when and where they need it.
Issy's career started in 2014 after graduating from James Cook University in Townsville. After working in private practice for a while, Issy found herself frustrated with what are known as 'passive' treatments - patients laying down and having things done to them. After a steep learning curve, Issy did some up-skilling in strength and conditioning, weight lifting and sport, mental health care, behaviour change, and the psychology of habit building. She discovered that 'active' treatments guided by physiotherapists are not only much more effective than passive treatments but also more cost effective and supported by medical research.
In addition to a passion for empowering patients, Issy strives to provide services in a mental health friendly environment. As a person living with Major Depressive Disorder, Issy knows first hand how important physical activity and exercise are, and what a major spanner in the works that injury can be for mental wellness.
Over the last eight years, Issy has developed experience in physiotherapy private practices, public and private hospitals, military units, professional sporting programs and teams, and many more environments.
When not working with clients, you'll find Issy in The Bar working out for her own health and mental wellness, walking along the Brisbane river, lazing about on a beach up the coast, or having an introvert's perfect night in on the couch.
